Chroma 1.0.1 Mac OS X
Chroma 1.0.1 | MacOSX | 9.9 MB
Chroma will give you naturally harmonious colors from images. Not everyone finds it easy to pick matching colors. Chroma takes away the pain, automatically creating a palette of over fifty colors from your images. Chroma takes advantage of your Mac's enhanced color capabilities to generate color palettes that are naturally compatible and beautifully balanced.
Copy and paste individual colors to use wherever you need them, or export the full palette to your favorite tools. Adding images is as simple as dragging from the Finder or a website. Chroma supports most image types you can throw at it, including PSD and RAW files. With sixteen color formats to choose from, you can copy colors by clicking them or drag them into your text editor of choice, or directly onto Freeway items. You can export your full color palettes to Photoshop, Illustrator, Freeway, or to Apple's color picker tool used by most Mac apps.
Color picker application for OS X that automatically generates harmonious color palettes depending on pictures provided by the user
Chroma is designed to meet the needs of people that are not necessarily artistically inclined. Starting from a user selected image, Chroma can generate a harmonious color palette that can be easily exported to file formats compatible with Photoshop or the Apple color picker.
Effortlessly generate color palettes that have a natural look
Right off the bat, Chroma prompts the user to provide an image that will be analyzed in order to get some color. The application is able to import a broad range of file formats, going from the most frequently used ones such as JPG or PNG to PSD or RAW image files.
Once the picture is loaded, Chroma will automatically generate a palette that comprises more than 50 different colors. Within the Chroma main window, you can either see the colors or the original image, together with codes for all the available colors.
Copy the color codes to your clipboard or export the entire palette
To help you identify a specific color from the original image, Chroma also comes with a loupe tool that can help you select a particular pixel. The color will be set in the top area of the color list, and the code is copied to the clipboard automatically.
In fact, you get to send to the pasteboard the code for any of the colors included in the palette with a simple mouse click. Worth mentioning is that Chroma provides support for 16 different code formats, and you can choose one that meets your needs from a drop down menu.
However, Chroma also enables you to save the entire color palette to file formats that are compatible with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Freeway, or the Apple color picker tool.
Color picker tool that can create palettes inspired by user provided photos
Bottom line, Chroma presents to the user functions that are to be expected when working with a color picker tool.
Nonetheless, the app takes things even further by generating an entire palette that comprises colors that look good together while commanding minimal user interaction.
